As a key component in our college careers, volunteering has been integrated in our daily lives as a means to emotionally, morally, or even professionally develop ourselves. However, is there a way to expand your influence to those around you? How did Muslims before us approach volunteering and social work as a whole? And how does your volunteering relate to Islam and the Ummah today?
On Monday, November16th at the Islamic Center of Gainesville come explore these topics in a historical analysis of key points in which social work attributed in the rise of Islam!
Get to know our speaker: Arthur Richards is an American-born convert who accepted Islam after years of Christian work as a deacon and within the work of youth ministry. Since accepting Islam he has spent his time studying the recitation of the Holy Quran with Imam Wisam Sharieff and other well-known reciters. Arthur currently serves as the National Director for Hunger Prevention with ICNA Relief, and is active with social awareness efforts nationwide. He is one of the founders of LEAP, a Muslim based scholarship program for College aged youth.
